Harbourside Netball Champions - Year 8A Netball Team

Congratulations to our Year 8A Netball Team who won the Harbourside Netball Tournament on Sunday 27 May. The team coached by Miss Jonelle Crone and managed by Mrs Tracey Kerr-Aim battled through the day, with a narrow loss to Mount Maunganui. With this the only loss for the team they had done enough to secure the tournament win. Congratulations girls an excellent result in your first tournament for 2012!

Sports Academy - Seal Fitness

On Tuesday 15 May the Sports Academy had a 1 hour session with Tony Burgess from Seal Fitness. Tony has an extensive background in sports fitness and has worked with the Bulldogs and is currently working as head fitness trainer for the Steamers and Fitness Coach for the Georgian Rugby Team!

An excellent strength based session that focused on our core (abdominals), with some upper (arms, chest and shoulders) and lower body (legs). What was different about this session was that we really had to focus on our technique and this meant keeping strong through our core. Look forward to next week session!

Sports Academy Kaimai Summit Tramp

On Thursday 26 April the Smiths Sports Shoes Sports Academy tramped from the Kaimai Summit back to the Ngamuwahine Outdoor Education Centre. A challenging tramp which has seen classes in the past complete this over two days with an overnight at the Hurunui Hut. The students completed the tramp in under 5 and a half hours, an outstanding effort! A huge thank you to the parents who supported us and also to Mr Hart, Mr Smith (our tramp leader), and Mr Cunliffe. A great experience. Please check out the photos!

Waimarino Canoe Challenge Success

On Friday 4 May a team of 4 students competed at the Canoe Challenge at Waimarino. For our students this was a daunting challenge as the school has a record of 6 back to back victories. A highlight was the deep water rescue where both the boys and girls team took out top honours. Individually Kyle and Ruby finished first overall, Jackson 2nd, Islah 3rd, Kaylee and Liam 4th.
